Years ago, we purchased a used, very inexpensive motor home from an elderly couple, just in time to drive to California on a trip that would combine a job interview with a short vacation. We loaded up the children and hit the road. Just outside Phoenix, Arizona, we heard a huge bang followed by a rattle and a vibration throughout the vehicle. It happened just a few short yards from an exit off the interstate so I prayed as I veered off the busy highway. I walked around the RV and discovered that one of the tires had literally exploded. Although there was some minor damage to the wheel well, it was still drivable, but only a short distance. As I looked around the RV, I realized that it did not have a spare tire. My mind was racing as I contemplated the expense of having the RV towed and my deadline to get to that job interview. As I walked around the front of the vehicle, I prayed to God for help. When I lifted my eyes to get my bearings, just down the road I saw a huge RV Center. I would learn later that it was the only one for miles around. I was able to drive the vehicle to the RV Center where I was directed to a tire store only a half mile away. We reached the store just minutes before closing time. Despite the late hour and the 110 degree heat, the workers took pity on us and changed the tire. Not only did they have the very model of tire that we needed, but they had a spare as well. We were able to get back on the road and make it to the job interview on time. As it turned out, I didn’t get the job. But I had a nice vacation with my family and I learned a lesson in God’s faithfulness that has lasted me a lifetime.
“Faith is not faith until it is all you’re holding on to!”
True Stories of Faith are based on actual events that have happened to people all over the world. Each story recalls a time or episode where faith in God was restored or encouraged through difficult time. Sometimes the names are changed because the significance is not always about to whom the events happened. The significance is about God’s faithfulness and love. Readers are encouraged to submit their true stories of faith to be edited and published in The Kaleidoscope Weekly. Send your submission to email@example.com. or write to us at Faith Stories; P.O.
