Hebrews 12:2 “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” NIV
We’ve seen how the power of the water is more than enough to bend steel, destroy bridges, and take out highways. One lesson is for sure…you can’t plug a rushing river.
“Fix your eyes on Jesus” is Old Testament for, “seek the LORD with your whole heart.” Jesus, who is LORD, would tell people, “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”
Many of those who were in his very presence, failed to miss that the King and the kingdom of God was standing right in front of them. The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy found in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). This, is what flows in God’s river of grace to believers because of faith in the sacrifice of Christ.
Maybe you’re at a point where you feel like there isn’t even a trickle of God in your life because you’re struggling with a bad habit that has your whole life plugged up. Or, life feels like a desert because you’re broke and life isn’t working out.
Than it sounds like you need the good kind of rushing river in your life; the river of God’s grace that comes by focusing and fixing your life on Jesus. Fixing your eyes on Jesus doesn’t mean trying to get your life together by human effort. It simply means looking to Jesus for your life, provision, and right standing with God, and not looking to find your life in self-effort and human opinion.
Yes, you make mistakes, but fix your life on how Jesus makes you completely righteous. Let God’s river of grace naturally destroy those habits, hang-ups, and heartaches.
